(NewsRadio 570 WKBN) - Mahoning County commissioners are disputing a Vindicator story that indicates 761 pay "raises" have been doled out to county employees since 2008; they say it's more like 90. 450 of the "raises" listed in the newspaper are PERS "flips". Employees started paying their 10-percent retirement "pickup" and were given equivalent increases. And Sheriff Jerry Greene says you can subtract the 200 deputies included in that number. The deputies had been taking concessions for several years; they were restored to 2008 levels last year. There's concern that the information will negatively impact the sales tax renewal on the may ballot.
